Which data are available at the Central Seismological Observatory of BGR?

Seismological stations in Germany

The Central Seismological Observatory of BGR is the analysis and archiving centre for data of the Graefenberg (GRF) array, the German Regional Seismic Network (GRSN) and the GRFO station. All data sets (described below) are archived continuously in 20Hz streams on CD recordables. The CD's are stored in two jukeboxes with a total capacity of 1000 slots and a 440 GByte disk-array making all data automatically accessible.

Data requests can be made via WWW , AutoDRM or via operator.

GRF array:
13 stations (aperture: approx. 50 x 100 km), location close to Erlangen. Station names GRA1, GRA2, GRA3, GRA4, GRB1, GRB2, GRB3, GRB4, GRB5, GRC1, GRC2, GRC3, GRC4. Up to 2005 the array consisted of three 3-comp stations (GRA1, GRB1, GRC1), others vertical, STS-1 BB-instruments. Currently the stations are upgraded to STS-2 instruments. Already equipped with STS-2 (all 3 components) are now GRA1, GRB2, GRC1, GRC2 and GRC3. Recorded stream: 20 Hz continuous on all channels. Time span of archive: starting between 1976 and 1980 (depending on station) up to now.
When requesting GRF data before 1980 please note that this are data from the beginning of the array. Not all stations are available, large data gaps may be there.

GRSN network:
Currently 22 stations (aperture: few hundred km), station names: BFO, BRG, BSEG, BUG, CLL, CLZ, FUR, GEC2, GTTG, HLG, IBBN, MANZ, MOX, NRDL, RGN, ROTZ, RUE, STU, TANN, TNS, UBBA, WET. All 3-comp stations, STS-2 BB instruments. Recorded streams: 20 Hz continuous, 1 Hz continuous, 80 Hz selected events. Time span of archive: Aug 1991 (for first stations) up to now. More recently installed stations: BRG, CLL, MOX (1993); BSEG (1996); STU, IBBN (we have data since 1996); RGN (1995); GEC2 (1998); RUE (2000); HLG, TANN (2001); NRDL, UBBA (2003), ROTZ (2005), MANZ, GTTG (2006). Closed stations BRNL (1991-2000), HAM (1991-1995), LID (1993-1995), GSH (1995-1999), WERN (2000-2001).

GRFO-station:
1 borehole station, IRIS standard. Station name: GRFO. 3-comp station. KS-36000 instrument. Recorded streams: 20 Hz continuous, 1 Hz continuous. Time span of archive: Jan 1994 up to now.

Please report publications using data of GRF or GRSN. Such responses are needed for our funding.
