Map showing global anomalies of the Earth magnetic field. In southern Africa the total magnetic field intensity is approx. 60 % of that in Central Europe. Because of the roughly square proportionality between the SNMR-signal to the magnetic field strength the SNMR-amplitude in Namibia reaches only 35% of the value measured under the same hydrogeological conditions in Germany.
